Some folks seem to have trouble accessing the SPR website and the required application form to be an overseas voter in the upcoming General election.
While this may just be temporary, (I've checked again and the website seems to be running fine at the moment) there's no telling when the website may start to go crazy, sending everyone into panic mode (probably because of the last-minute scramble for the form as this week may be the final week to apply).
Here is an alternative link to the application form should the SPR website crash:

Filling in the form
Lucky for us, ASASI has come up with some easy-to-follow infographics on how to fill in the form. You can find it here:
https://www.facebook.com/kpum.asasi/photos/a.1686048001442980.1073741858.642751322439325/1686048081442972/?type=3&theater&ifg=1
Do note that you may have been affected by the redelineation exercise that has recently been passed. Check your constituency before filling in the form. **
I will now address some of the more common questions I have received in relation to the application form:
a) Do we need to fill in our whole travel history?
No. It should be sufficient to show that you have been to Malaysia for 30 days in the past 5 years and they do not have to be consecutive. If you have trouble finding the dates, look at your passport to find the immigration stamps. The stamps should state the date you arrive in the particular country. Checking your emails for flight details would also be helpful.
b) How long will it take for the application to be approved?
It took my application 2 weeks. You should receive a reply by email once you've sent in your application. I got an email notifying me that they have receive my application the day after I had sent it.
c) I don't have a scanner, what do I do?
You will be surprised to know that your mobile phone can do the scanning for you. Just download a free scanner app from whatever application store your phone has access to. If you are using a really old phone then perhaps, you may want to consider opting to go the old fashion way (by post) or you can just drop by a printing shop (you can probably find one or two of those on Google Maps).
d) My application has been approved, what's next?
Nobody knows. There is a news article by Free Malaysia Today that details how the postal voting system has changed. It seems that it would be done at your overseas address rather than at your nearest Malaysian embassy.
Just stay tuned for more updates. Do share the blog post and give it a like if you found it useful.
